Interested in joining a Spirit Financial Credit Union Committee?
We currently have openings for volunteers in our Audit and Credit Committees.
Our committees are comprised of Spirit Financial Credit Union members who are interested in helping to create policy and guide the credit union in providing the best products and services to fit our members' needs. Together, we can make a difference!
Qualifications for committee positions
Must be a member in good standing that is at least 18 years of age.
Must be bondable by the Credit Union's fidelity bond company.
Must authorize a criminal background check and a credit check.
Must complete a volunteer application.
Additional qualifications may be required, depending on committee.
Audit Committee Responsibilities
Review policies, procedures and operations
Make recommendations for changes, to help improve service and efficiency.
Protect and safeguard member assets.
Review credit operations.
Evaluate performance of credit union officials. Stay abreast of regulations to ensure credit union compliance.
Determine compliance with consumer credit regulations.
Review minutes of board meetings.
Experience in bookkeeping, auditing, finance, systems analysis or documentation review is helpful in applying for the audit committee.
Credit Committee Responsibilities
Approve or disapprove member requests for credit based on member's creditworthiness.
Promote wise credit management.
Review lending policies and procedures and recommend changes.
Regularly review loan portfolio. Implement internal controls. Insure equality in lending and no discrimination. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
